IS it effective?

I think think commercial is effective as it catches people's attention by the use of sex, humor and framing.

By the use of sex and humor, they were able to generate attention.The target market alos does not need to have background knowledge of their products as the message is simple.Though humor is used, it is relevant to the selling point of the ad.

It also stresses the uniqueness of the product which is the waterproof camera by surprising customers who typically refuse traditonal appeals to ads(Appeals more towards teenagers and young adult).

It surprise the target audiences with an unusal approach by disrupting, then reframe the offer.By reframing the offer, it focuses on the offer rather than the choice.

However, I think this ad in some ways, not effective too. Some people might think that the ad is gross not funny after watching,creating negative impression. This might be good too as people remember the too but, in the negative way.

Thus on the whole, i conclude that the ad is effective as it manage to catch people's attention and at the same time allows people to remember what kind of product and its feature they are selling.

New Chicago Olympic logo 2016

The new Chicago Olympic logo is without the torch; however the identity is still prolific with a six pointed star taking center stage. This icon is similar to the star in Chicago’s flag.
Earlier, the previous logo that featured the Olympic-style torch was ruled out by the International Olympic Committee, as it was against the Olympic emblem/logo rules which state that candidate city logos cannot contain any Olympic symbol. UPS Logo

The first UPS “shield” logo was created in 1916 when its founder Jim Casey merged the company with a local rival delivery service. That UPS logo featured a shield and an eagle carrying a package with the words “SAFE, SWIFT, SURE” inscribed on the side. I think the differences between weekdays and weekends Today newspapers are the contents, designs and the way the present their stuff.
Today make use of the weekend issues when people tend to have more free time to draw more attention as compared to their weekday issues.They foresee that this is a good opputunity to catch their attention as they are also more willing to spend their money to relax.But, in order to do that, they will have to impress their readers at first sight to catch their attention to read it. Thus they inserted more graphics and pictures to make it more eye-catching.

where does inspiration come from?

is it from your everyday life?
is it when you are walking down the street?
is it when you are using the toilet?
is it when you are dreaming?

Inspiration [ ĭn'spə-rā'shən] - Something, such as a sudden creative act or idea, that is inspired.

I think that inspiration comes from everyday, everywhere.
It comes from every detailed observation from even the simplest matter.
Anything around you can just trigger off your imagination.
Anything in your surroundings can be the next big thing in the industry you will be working on.

I feel that to go big doesn't mean that you need to follow the trend.
One should start from learning to explore and observing the happenings around you.
Even a small action of putting a hairclip on your toe can trigger off some imagination and inspiration.
When you feel frustrated over something, think deep and you will find that you will be able to form a composition of an image out of it.

People tend to neglect their surroundings and who they really are when trying to find inspiration.
This resulted in no personal style and original creativity and concepts.
Making most of the works out there all seem to be like a copy of one another.

So how do you get inspiration to come to you???
Taking a walk or going window shopping down town may help.
just LOOK, OBSERVE and THINK.
There's no use in sitting at home and stare at blank space or in front of your monitor screen.
Sometimes sitting at home talking to your family might work too.

Always keep a notebook with you to jot down every detail of your life.

Sometimes this is where you will find your inspiration.

Life's miserable without a proper computer that can run After Effects without hanging...

Found that i couldnt do much work work lately because of e baka computer. It was supposed to be something that aid my work but it became an handicap.I couldnt do anything at all sia. All i can do is to sit there and wait for my computer to go "bloom!!", so that my parents will be willing to bring it for repair and upgrading.

Good news is that haha hey i fixing my 'computers' this Sunday, the long awaited day...

Been doing like nothing at home lately actually other then trying to bond with my family for the first time in the year.

First week:
fly to shanghai ti have a not-so-nice holiday with schedule packed like sardines,
changing hotels everyday =__=ll , with like so little things to buy, and a dad who think that i dun noe how to take pictures and i might decompose his camera if i hold it long enough. Ya-Ya-Ya... as if...HAHA

project 3 - MTV alternative
date due..tomorrow

what i had done

change my concept quite alot today after having difficulties in excuting it in the final stage. Instead of rabbit going down the hole, it will be rabbit being sucked into a beam of light into another world from the sky (just like UFO encountering).

Texture wise, didn't have time to do it much. Only manage to play with texture on the sky and the land. Couldn't get to animate the fishes properly which are supposedly to be swimming in the air. Final results of that.. flat fishes which are not 3D are being dragged here and there like fishes being pulled... it sucks....

NO TIME !!!

couldn't find any blood video to put it at the back of the clip. Going to do that tmr.

lesson learnt

1) never to be too ambitious - think simple or else u will die of handling cameras and layers.
2) do your work consistently dun slack.
3) dun be overly self-confident.
4) always save ur work... =___=

What I'm going to do...
I think i'm going to create a promo using an emphasis on textures.
I wanna try to create something different from what i did before.I wanna do something outta my comfort zone.I wanna challenge myself.

Target audience: Female age between 15 to 30
Approach: Fantasy

I did some research too on texture and try to capture some of the textures in my everyday life so that i can use it later on in my project.

The 'Haru' Ad that i did in class today.

The initial idea wasn't this at all.But as i progressed and explore After Effect, the idea of using papercut strucked me.
Why paper doll:
1) paper dolls are things that u create. I wanna show that ppl can create their own style too by mix-matching different type of clothes.
2) The Process of creating is really fun and enjoyable.

I showed it Ms Tina and she showed me another clip.This time round the paper dolls are in 3D forms and harder to achieve.

After looking at the ad i produced for this week. I found that the spinning apple at the beginning is actually quite redundant.I should focus more on the clothes cos some of my frens feel that i'm selling apples at the beginning.

First time do video without planning.But i found that all those fashion advertisement do not have any story at all.Most of them are just selling the idea den the clothes itself.Mine is almost the same too.Mine because is gothic lolita so i got to persuade ppl to sell the identity rather den the clothes itself.

Contrast is the dissimilarity or difference between things. Another meaning for contrast is in the context of colour. This can be the opposition of items that are compared or the act of distinguishing via differences comparison.It helps object to be distinguishable from other objects and the background.I feel that visual contrast provides an 3D depth to the image to create an realistic touch and feeling into the picture.The visual contrast also help to animate the 'motion' in the composition.Without it the whole composition will be very 'flat' and lifeless.

For this composition the main theme is Fossil.If the author were to use colours that consist of black and white, the audience would not be able to recognize the main objective which is the 2 bugs somewhere near the middle.And for not wanting the bugs to be interpreted as normal bugs only, the author decided to use the fossil colour to represent it all.I feel that colours are important as they help to create moods that one maybe is seeking.Colour contrast also helps to create the main focus/ divert attention. Too many colours will make the composition feel too busy and it usually makes it harder for the viewer to find the information he or she wants. It is also more tiring to the eyes.While A composition with too few colours, on the other hand, might risks being seen as a bit boring. For example, in this picture,the author added more vibrate/more striking colours to his main objectives- the 2 bugs.Colour Studies

Texture efers to the properties held and sensations caused by the external surface of objects received through the sense of touch. Texture is sometimes used to describe the feel of non-tactile sensations. Texture can also be termed as a pattern that has been scaled down (especially in case of two dimensional non-tactile textures) where the individual elements that go on to make the pattern not distinguishable.To me, I feel that texture too, create an 3D feeling and helps to create an realistic feeling to an overall composition.

WHO AM I??

Thats the question that i have been asking myself thru and thru for the past few weeks..

Never know that it will be so hard to answer something this simple. Its simple yet complicating. It sort of taught me a lesson of not to look down on anything anyone.The simplier it looks the more complicating it is.

What i feel right now:
There's nothing wonderful abt me.
I'm just a normal girl out there.
Plain but not as simple as u think.

i always see ppl wearing masks.
people are all selfish beings and tat just include me.
To me masks are a tool to cover up for our weak and ugly side.
To protect ourself, to show a brave front.
hated tat.

hated how times flies especially when doing work whether i like it or not.

Emo is part of my daily life.
just that i dun like ppl to see that of me.
i feel that that's embarrassing.
WEAK.

I just tired of ppl's fake smiles.
my smile especially.
